The picture shows two girls who are sitting at a table, looking very happy. It seems like they are talking about something interesting together because thier body language looks exciting. I can see many people at the background, I think they are in a busy street. Everyone in the picture are wearing thick clothes, so perhaps the weather is quite cold. The girls are holding two cups, maybe the cups of hot coffee. I can see something on the table too, such as two bottles and some flowers. I belive the photographer was their friends because they seems so comfortable when be taken.

I have to say that this is a great video with great advices to practice English to be fluent, I studied English 9 years ago, and I feel I learnt a good basics and I tried to maintain my listening skills in a good shape by watching movies, some series but now I want to retake the practicing to improve my speaking. The sentences you mentioned as complex sentences are actually compound, aren't they? You are joining two independent clauses with a coordinating conjunction.
